Read-Along Nursery Rhymes

The read-along Nursey Rhymes were read off my i-pad using iBooks. The books consists five nursery rhymes which include;
1. Baa Baa Black Sheep
2. The Cat and the Fiddle
3. Humpty Dumpty
4. Mary Had a Little Lamb
5. Little Miss Muffet

Analysing the nursery rhymes included within this book that age groups best suited would be reception or pre-school students.

The pages are very bright and colourful. Each nursery rhyme has illustration that set the scenes for the nursery room. This would allow students to ask questions and help them imagine how the nursery rhyme would depict in their minds. The illustrations brought me more into the book as the nursery rhymes are ones that I could tell without reading. These were rhymes I would be read or listen to when I was very young.

Most of the rhymes are shorts and have a lot of rhyming words. For example the Little Miss Muffet rhyme;
"Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet
Eating her curds and whey,
Along came a spider,
Who sat down besider her
And frightened Miss Muffet away"

The words that rhyme are whey and away and her. These are the ending words of each line of the rhyme. Not only do the words rhyme but the nursery tells a quick yet imaginative story beyond the words on the page.

This nursery ryhme book would be ideal for students in lower primary, it could be used to analyse rhyming words within the english program. It would be ideal if this book wsa kept within the classroom to read. he nursery rhymes would allow students to have and allow their imagination to grow and explore.
