Cowboy Baby

Cowboy Baby is a story written by Sue Heap. It follows the adventure Cowboy Baby sets out to avoid going to bed.

Cowboy Baby doesn't want to go to bed. He wants to stay out in the big, wide desert with Texas Ted (a teddy bear), Denver Dog and Hank the Horse. But Sheriff Pa (his dad) is on their trail - and he's got a special surprise for Cowboy Baby. It is a star badge so that Cowboy Baby can be Sheriff Pa's deputy. Eventually he falls asleep after collecting all of his bed toys.

Offering a whole new storytelling experience, this picture book has been animated and put into a DVD form, narrated by Kevin Whately, so that students can watch the DVD and follow along with the book.

The concept of the book is finding lost toys which most students are familiar to. The repeating of words and phrases and the rhythm of the book easy to read and is enjoyable for adults as well as the students. The illustrations are bright and colourful and really engaging to the children.

This book is one of the winners of the Smarties Book Prize Gold Award in the under fives category.
